Greetings,
Yesterday’s photography expedition was a brief walk through the city at sunset. Rushing home from work, I picked up Ilkka and Ant just in time to arrive in Northbridge before sunset. We started our expedition on Pier St, walking toward the populated areas of Northbridge. Near The Court Bar / NightClub and the WA Museum we were able to capture some nice orange sunset glows over some cobblestones and some silhouettes .
I shot early in the night with my Meyer-Optik Trioplan 100mm ƒ2.8. This is a lovely vintage lens which, wide open has a hazy blown out look to the highlights. The lens has a round aperture stopped down and produces heavy outlined bokeh.
We dropped into Noise Pollution Records to have a sticky-beak at their wares. Here I used the Ricoh 28mm, this little gem of a lens has always been a real pleasure for me, I never expected it to perform this well. The blades click nicely, the focus ring is firm (yet consistently smooth) and I think the image quality speaks for itself. At the end of the night I also used this lens to capture the Freeway and Narrows Bridge long exposure shot.
After leaving Noise Pollution, we made our way to The Moon Cafe I switched to the Super Takumar 50mm for low light shooting, here I was unimpressed with the shots I took.
All in all it was a short but sweet night of shooting. I hope you enjoy the shots.
